INTRODUCTION:
Coronavirus and its second wave is lethal and is deteriorating both physical and mental health. The patient affected with this virus becomes physically weak, and subconsciously it takes a toll on their mental health as well. By looking at the lack of resources and increasing cases day-by-day on the news channel, this virus is attacking every life in a different form. The hospital staff, sanitation team, police force, and various other influencers and common people are trying their best to look out for resources and helping those who are in need.
This blog will talk about precautionary measures to be taken related to one’s physical and mental health.

PHYSICAL HEALTH:
A. IF YOU ARE COVID+: IN HOSPITAL
The doctors are tirelessly working to look after the patient and are monitoring them after every one hour a day and every four hours at night. The stake of pain which they are carrying on their shoulders is commendable! In such a grave situation, the doctors are monitoring patient’s physical health and are treating them with the appropriate medicines. Moreover, if there’s a delay in getting oxygen cylinders, then there is a piece of vital information circulated on social media, and that is Prone Position.


WHAT IS PRONING?
Proning is a posture that helps in increasing the oxygen level in the body and maintains the oxygen saturation levels.


HOW TO DO THE PRONE BREATHING TECHNIQUE?
a. 3-4 Pillows needed
b. Keep the first pillow at the chest level, the second pillow at the stomach level, and the third at the lower leg portion.
c. Lie down on your front (prone position) and keep your neck facing outwards.
d. The one hand should be near your head, and the other should lie down while the palm facing up.
e. Place your ankles over the third pillow.
f. Then start the breathing’ breathe in and breathe out.

B. IF YOU ARE COVID+: AT HOME
a. Be isolated from other family members.
b. Take your prescribed medicines on time.
c. Take Hot water steam at least three times a day.
d. Gargle with hot water and salt four times a day.
e. Eat citrus fruits as much as you can and try to avoid juices as it contains sugar.
f. Don’t skip your meals and add protein.
g. Change your bedsheets, pillow covers daily and keep yourself sanitised.
h. Check your fever with a thermometer and stay updated.
i. Check your oxygen level with Oximeter.
j. Do not consume cold beverages.
k. Do breathing exercises to keep your breathing, mind, and lungs strong.
l. Don’t panic. Things are tough, but we will get through this.
m. Keep your mental health sane by journaling your thoughts.
n. Pray.

MENTAL HEALTH:
This virus is not hampering physical activities but also affecting one’s mental health. Anxiety and stress are increasing and is slowing down the process. Treat your body as a temple and follow a few steps to keep your mental health sane.
a. Meditate in the morning.
b. Get Vitamin D for 15-20minutes every morning.
c. Walking is the most underrated physical exercise.
d. Journal your thoughts.
e. Watch comedy movies.

f. Gratitude is the key.
g. Do laughter therapy.
h. Avoid violence and news channel.
i. Don’t be guilty of not helping others. Prioritise your mental health.
j. Consult a therapist, if necessary.

NUTRITION AND MEALS:
After a few research, here is a list of nutrition to be implemented in our diet to boost our immune system.

a. Stay hydrated: Consume lukewarm water in the morning. You can either take Ginger tea, Coconut water, or Lemon water as well. Drink plenty of water in a day as it will help in removing the toxins from your body and will maintain the energy levels.

b. Consume Fruits and Avoid Juices: Fruits like Orange, Papaya, Kiwi, Apples will help in maintaining the energy level and will fight the infection. Consuming juice might increase the sugar level; hence, try to avoid consumption of excessive juice intake.
